Per Mare Per Eccliesiam
During June 2007 I recorded sounds and environments from various locations around from around my home town of Southend-on-Sea in Essex. I spent the next couple of months working with the sounds to prosuce this collection of songs, Per Mare Per Eccliesiam, or 'by the Sea, by the church', a clue as to how the town came into being. the locations are much less obvious than what one might imagine when thinking of the town and I wanted to specifically highlight that the town isn't just a pier, a high street and a football team.
I am currently looking to find a home for this body of work so if you have a label, or know of one, that might be interested in releasing it then please contact me here

Along side synths and drums, the songs feature many noises from my sound archive along with lots of sounds taken from many hours of recordings made whilst riding about town on my bicycle:
silchester corner > djembe, womans voice, typewriter, a drinks can being run over by a car, a passing bicycle.
porters town > organ recorded in someone's front room, shampoo bottle, writing pad, shower curtain, bottle top, clicking of fingers.
clifftown parade > mandolin, guitar, woman on bench, dogs, children playing, motorbike.
mirror steps
park lane > man in workshop, bicycle, train.
chalkwell oaze > boat masts.
poets corner > van and occupants, bottle, shoe on street, stone, store keeper and customer.
electric avenue > light switch, fruit machines.
sutton hall station > Geoff the Enthusiast, clay drum, train.
I’d like to thanks all the contributors over the last 8 years that have supplied environments and places to record and all the actions and random activities by people near and far that gave their time, effort and ingenuity to make and record so many wonderful sounds. Your work is now so intrinsically embedded in my work, that without you, these songs would just not be. Thank you.
