doug rouxel is a musician and visual artist who has been working in multimedia performance for a number of years > his main focus has always been on the live arts and in particular, taking what are normally considered studio based art forms to a live audience > his history is in music technology, with a bsc (hons) in music technology from staffordshire university and an MA in composition and sonic art from oxford brookes university > he has been performing live electronic music for nearly 10 years on and off and has been working with live visuals for a significant amount of that time > he recently decided to increase his focus on live visuals to provide a contrast to his day job teaching music technology/production up to a graduate level



in the last year he has worked closely with a number of local and london based club nights including but not limited to; telephasic (southend-on-sea), rednetic records (london) and working classes (leigh-on-sea), as well as gigging regularly around london with the band society of imaginary friends who credited him in their latest album 'sadness is a bridge to love’ for providing visuals for their live shows over the last 6 months > doug is in discussion regarding providing visual accompaniment to performances for a number of other artists who work with, and regularly gig with society… including william d drake and band of holy joy > in addition to all his visual work doug has a recently completed a remix for drone artist MWVM which should be available on silber records in the very near future

within his visuals work, doug hopes to be working with more non-traditional screen shapes and projections > with a focus on manipulation and re-appropriation of obsolete media such as slide photography and 8mm film, he hopes to incorporate and mould his visuals more cohesively along with the music and into the architecture of the spaces in which he performs
